Walgreens Boots Alliance also has a number of pension schemes (called our ‘legacy schemes’) that are now closed – meaning that employees can no longer build up benefits in these schemes, although they will continue to pay benefits out to retired and deferred members.
Some of these were set up as trust-based arrangements. This means that the employer set up a trust (normally comprising a number of member-nominated and employer-appointed trustees) to manage the scheme.
The company’s closed schemes include:
- Boots Pension Scheme
- Boots Supplementary Pension Plan
- Boots Group Personal Plan (GPP)
- Boots Additional Pension Plan
